Personal Life

Personal Journey

Dr. Keith Spain's journey into medicine began on the streets of New Orleans, where he volunteered as part of a student-run EMS service while attending Tulane University. Those early patient interactions sparked a deep interest in human medicine and ignited a lifelong passion for healing.

As a lifelong runner and athlete, Dr. Spain gravitated toward sports medicine. His personal experiences with athletic training and competition gave him a unique appreciation for the challenges active individuals face. Sports medicine offered the opportunity to help others recover from injuries, prevent future issues, and support their pursuit of physical goals.

Life Beyond the Clinic

Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Spain leads an active and family-centered life. He enjoys running, exercise, fishing, and SCUBA diving, and can often be found cheering on his two sons at soccer, baseball, or tennis matches. During the summer, the Spain family frequently heads to the water, spending time on their boat exploring coastal areas and local lakes.

Dr. Spain shares his life with his wife, a former collegiate softball player and advocate for community wellness. The couple met while biking in Mobile, during a time when he was training for his first Ironman triathlon. They now reside in Fairhope with their sons, aged 11 and 8, along with their chocolate lab, Pacer, and a leopard gecko named Skittle.

Community Impact

Deeply rooted in Baldwin County, Dr. Spain has played an active role in his local medical community. A former president of the Baldwin County Medical Society, he has shared his expertise at health fairs, school events, and community talks.
