The University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery offers a comprehensive five-year residency program designed to provide balanced academic learning and practical experience. Residents rotate through various subspecialties—including general orthopaedics, pediatric orthopaedics, trauma, sports medicine, hand, foot and ankle, spine, adult reconstructive surgery, anatomy and pathology, orthopaedic oncology, and total joint—spending approximately equal time in clinical and surgical duties to ensure continuity of patient care from initial evaluation through treatment and rehabilitation. Supervised by experienced faculty from the Campbell Clinic staff, residents progressively assume greater responsibility, mastering both cognitive and technical aspects of each rotation. The program emphasizes a strong basic science foundation, continuity of patient care, and close faculty participation in all phases of the learning process, aiming to develop skilled orthopaedic surgeons committed to exemplary patient care.
